The Farm is certainly a band that should go down in the book of my life.
Memories buzz straight back into my mind every time I hear their songs.
Since my mom is just 16 years older than me, she used to love The Farm and play their record everyday.
I vividly remember a photo of my mom with her best friend, Ashley (where my middle name originated from) at The Farm's concert around 15 years ago.
Damn she looked happy!!
I had lost tracks of these songs for ages but had them in my head day to day, especially these 2 songs that I posted here..
They had such an impact on my life and just gave me a sensation when i sung them in my head. One day, as i was going through the videos on you tube, i tried searching for the band whose name I didn't remember at that time. And I found it, Damn, did it bring tears to my eyes!! Big boulders rolled down my face as those old memories came alive in my room that one night. Images of my mom dancing in our dining room and lip sync-ing the lyrics that were howling around the house...me shacking my body to the music and living the moment.
Damn!! Here I would like to share it...
The Farm - Groovy Train
1991 release from the album "Spartacus"
This is the version with smiling people undiving from a pool of mud.
Listen to the lyrics...They are so deep..
=The Farm=
-All Together Now-
Remember boy that your forefather's died
Lost in millions for a country's pride
Never mention the trenches of Belgium
When they stopped fighting and they were one
A spirit stronger than war was at work that night
December 1914 cold, clear and bright
Countries' borders were right out of sight
They joined together and decided not to fight
All together now, all together now
All together now in no man's land (together)
All together now (all together), all together now (all together)
All together now (together, together)
In no man's land (together, together)
The same old story again
All those tears shed in vain
Nothing learnt and nothing gained
Only hope remains
All together now, all together now
All together now in no man's land (together)
All together now (all together), all together now (all together)
All together now in no man's land (together)
All together now (all together now), all together now (all together now)
All together now (together, together)
In no man's land (together, together)
The boys had their say, they said no (all together now)
Stop the slaughter, let's go home
Let's go, let's go (all together now)
Let's go (all together now), let's go home
All together now (together, together)
In no man's land (together, together)
All together now (all together now), all together now (all together)
All together now (together, together)
In no man's land (together, together)
